Movie locations in Salzburg and the mountains of the Bavarian Alps
A private full-day tour that brings together two sides of the region: the places where the famous 1965 movie “The Sound of Music” was filmed, and the mountain scenery of the Bavarian Alps just across the border.
We start in Salzburg with a short walk through the Old Town, then visit Lake Leopoldskron and the gazebo in Hellbrunn Park. From there we drive up the Rossfeld Panorama Road – the mountain setting used for the family’s escape at the end of the movie – where your guide suggests a short walk with views over the Berchtesgaden Alps.
Your highlight – chosen when booking
- Berchtesgaden Salt Mine – ride the miners’ train and slide down the wooden slides deep into the mountain (approx. 1.5 hours), or
- Lake Königssee – boat trip to St. Bartholomä with lunch there.
Both cannot be combined in 8 hours.
Add-on: Mondsee wedding church
The church from the wedding scene lies in the opposite direction from Berchtesgaden, so it is not part of the standard route. You can add it directly when booking (+ approx. 1.5 hours, € 200 per group).
